When a patient tells their doctor about symptoms they're experiencing, or when health screening reveals a previously unsuspected problem, diagnosis is the essential first step toward achieving effective treatment.
And the key to successful diagnosis is the skill and experience of the diagnostician, together with access to the facilities needed to fully investigate and identify the cause. Only then can effective treatment be recommended.
At Northlands Practice, Dr Mike Debenham brings more than 25 years experience to the task. His skills are highly respected by both his patients and his professional peers. Working in private practice gives him the time to fully explore each patient's own account of symptoms, and to perform the appropriate tests.
Basic tests, such as blood and urine samples, are taken on the premises, and analysed by a London laboratory that carries out a broad range of what are called grouped tests - these make accurate diagnosis much easier. Results are usually available within 48 hours. Other tests (for example X-rays, ultrasound and MRI scans), are conducted in conjunction with the Nuffield Trust in Ipswich, and this also enables Dr Debenham to provide speedy referral to specialist consultants if necessary.
We offer our full range of diagnostic services to all clients of our health screening and private GP services, and they are also an integral part of Northlands' Total Health Care service.
