'MMR is safe'
'MMR is NOT safe'
The
controversy continues. Spin doctors at war with medical doctors.

MMR has become one
of the most contentious issues in child health care.
These are the most important facts as we see them:
> The UK Government claims that parents who opt for separate vaccinations may not complete the course (in our view, an insult to parents who take the subject seriously enough to consider single vaccinations).
> It also claims that parents who opt for single vaccinations leave their children at risk until the full course has been completed. But with a recommended interval of six weeks between inoculations, the entire course takes just three months. And yet the Government apparently has no problem with MMR taking place in, say, a child's 16th rather than 13th month. Hypocrisy?
> The UK Government claims that MMR is safe. But the research it repeatedly quotes has already been discredited. It attacks (or ignores), work that casts doubt on MMR's safety. It attempts to restrict supplies of the alternative single vaccines. It bribes NHS GPs to promote MMR. If these sound like extreme statements, you'll find more information on our Vaccinations FAQs page.
> It is cheaper for the UK Government to provide MMR rather than separate vaccinations.
> The official UK campaign to promote MMR has misfired disastrously. National uptake rates have now fallen to less than 80%, seriously below the 95% level that both the World Health Organisation and the UK Government recommend as the minimum to avoid the risk of major epidemics. During the past year, Northlands has experienced a 500% increase in the number of parents choosing single vaccinations. More information on our Vaccinations FAQs page, and on MMR - What YOU Say.
> There is mounting independent evidence that MMR is linked to increases in autism, IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), Crohn's disease and other serious disabilities. Again, more on this in Vaccinations FAQs.
We believe in two fundamental principles:
> The safety of children's health. Vaccination involves injecting what is technically known as an 'inactive virus' in order to promote immunity against the 'real' disease. In our view it is asking a lot of a young child's immune system to expect it to deal with three such viruses at the same time.
> The right to informed parental choice. The UK Government does not allow parents this choice within the NHS, which actively encourages its staff to pressure parents into accepting MMR. We endeavour to provide parents with information to assist them in making their own choice between MMR and single vaccinations. Please see our Vaccinations FAQs page and the links it provides.
In support of these
principles,
we are pleased to offer separate vaccinations for measles, mumps and rubella.
You'll find more information regarding both separate vaccinations and MMR,
together with answers to many frequently asked questions,
on our Vaccinations FAQs page.
We also offer a full range
of other vaccinations,
including flu, meningitis, pneumonia, general travel and yellow fever inoculations.
